It’s December! Since we don’t seem to get snow in the DC area anymore the next best thing is daily coding puzzles and challenges. My two favorite are the Advent of Code and Advent of Cyber. Both contain some interesting challenges and are a fun way to try out new things ahead of starting the new year. The Cyber event was perfect this time last year as I was prepping for the Sec+ exam: a little forced break from the studying while still being somewhat relevant to what I was working on.

I’m particularly excited about the Code event this year and doing everything in Go. Already this morning’s challenge highlighted some of the things I’ve “forgotten” to learn in Go that would have been trivial to accomplish in Python. Turns out they weren’t too bad in Go either, I just need to gain some more familiarity with the standard library…
